What we have acheived!

BwD YouthBank’s Second grant making round took place in late 2007.

In agreement with Young Peoples’ Service, grantmaking panels ran in the in following areas:

Central
North East
South East
North West
Darwen South & Rural
Duke of Edinburgh (New panel)

Alongside the 6 YPS panels, there was increased interest from the voluntary sector to run YouthBank panels. YouthWorks continued to run and develop the Birch Hall & Anchor panel which operated last year, but also took on the development of a new panel covering Darwen North. New panels were also run up by:

The Young Carers Service (Child Action North West) and
The Healthy Living Centre (Bangor Street).

In total, 10 YouthBanks panels operated across the Borough. The following information is based on what YouthBank panels have passed back to us to
date.
66 Young People took part in panels/ grantmaking activity. A cross section of Young People were represented in this total (gender, ethnicity, age etc...).

A total of 69 applications were received:

65 grants were awarded.
1 grant was rejected.
3 grants were returned unspent.
Over 600 Young People were beneficiaries of grants awarded and had the opportunity to take part in a range of positive and enjoyable activities across the Borough.

Total amount granted = £22,000!!

What we are going to achieve in the future. What next?

BwD YouthBank has been commissioned by Children’s Services to deliver the YouthBank project across the Borough. We are currently negotiating with host agencies who have shown an interested in running a YouthBank panel. The outcome of these discussions will inform where and when YouthBank panels will run. We are also planning a range of training events and workshops which will develop the YouthBank project and more importantly, the skills of young people.

These will cover the following topics :

Film and video production
Web Design
Trust board roles and responsibilities
A further OCN course
Finance
